JOB OPENING: ACCOUNTANT OR SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Algona Municipal Utilities (AMU) is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant or Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This position supports the financial operations of a multi-utility municipal organization and plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls.

The position level (Accountant or Senior Accountant) will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Applicants must reside in the Algona Municipal Utilities service area or another location approved by the General Manager. A candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products, along with strong attention to detail and accuracy, is required. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
