Description
The City of Algona is seeking applicants to the join the Algona Police Department as Dispatcher. Algona (pop. 5,487) is located in north-central Iowa and is the county seat of Kossuth County (pop. 14,529). Through a 28E Agreement, the City of Algona operates the emergency dispatch services for all of Kossuth County.
Dispatchers provide efficient communications between the general public and emergency service agencies through the receipt of telephone calls and radio communications. The successful candidate will possess strong communications skills and be familiar with the principals of community/problem solving policing. Candidates must be committed to training, professional development, and community engagement. Previous experience as a dispatcher and National Crime Information (NCIC) certification preferred, but not necessary. This position reports to the Dispatch Supervisor and the Chief of Police.
